Get The Look: Nigella's Kitchen
If you've ever turned on your television and found that Nigella Lawson's 'Cook, Eat, Repeat' programme is on, you've likely lusted after her beautiful kitchen. Her numerous TV shows over the years have seen her in set kitchens, which are reportedly inspired by her own, but in 2020 the public finally got a glimpse of the cooking queen's own kitchen.
While thousands subscribe to the art of minimalism, it's clear that Nigella opts for maximalism instead. Her kitchen is full of artfully cluttered unit surfaces, shelves and rails. The artful disorder of the room makes it appear more friendly and comfortable than a lot of other television kitchens. I can't be the only one who'd love to sit in this room with a cup of tea while Nigella cooks up a storm.
She has jars upon jars of cutlery (so she's always ready for a spontaneous dinner party?) and an impressive collection of beautiful pots and pans hanging from the ceiling. This is clearly the kitchen of a professional chef, but Nigella hasn't let her profession get in the way of making the room visually fun to look at. She doesn't shy away from colour, as we can see that her cabinetry has been painted bright pink and mint green. If you're thinking about painting your kitchen something memorable, I would highly recommend reading our last blog post, which is about the predicted colour trends of 2022.
Another enviable part of Nigella Lawson's kitchen is her mint green kitchen. She has a rod with all sorts of kitchen utensils hanging above it, and an extremely unique splashback made from slithers of a mirror, all mosaic-ed together to create a glittery effect. Nigella reported in an instagram post that she turns her aga off during the hotter months of the year and only turns it on once the weather is cool again. This isn't surprising, considering how warming agas are.
I couldn't finish this blog post without giving Nigella's beautiful garden a mention. It is an intimate space, strung with fairylights with a dining table in the middle of the patio. The chairs are hot pink to match her kitchen cabinets. If I owned this beautiful space, I'd be counting down the days to summer so that I could sit there with my friends and family again.
